WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN!!
I am looking forward to a great year of fun and learning! Please review the following information to help you and your child become acclimated to our program.
The kindergarten curriculum is designed to be enriching, developmentally appropriate and challenging. My main goal is to help children grow socially, emotionally, cognitively and creatively by engaging them in positive learning experiences, play, exploration, and discovery. It is my hope that by providing students with a positive kindergarten experience it will ignite a spark that will lead to a life-long love of learning and school!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Book Bags:
It is required that all children have book bags in order to safely transport their belongings safely, to and from school. Book bags must be large enough to hold a lunch box, snack bag and home/school folder. Please put your child’s name on his or her bag.
Bus/name Tags:
Please have your child wear their bus/name tags every day for the first two weeks of school.
Home/School Folders:
At the beginning of the year all children receive home/school folders for important school notices, notes and school work. Anything that needs to be sent to school, such as notes, lunch money, signed forms, etc., should be placed in this folder, as I will check it in the morning. Please check folder daily and review your child’s school work with them.
Routines:
Young children thrive on routine. Having a set schedule for meals and bedtime makes for a happier child! Pediatricians recommend anywhere from 10 to 12 hours of sleep per night for young children.
Snacks:
Children will have time for a short snack each day. In keeping with Springbrook School’s nutrition policy, please send your child to school with a healthy snack and drink. A list of healthy snack suggestions will be sent home in your child’s folder.
Lunch:
A monthly Breakfast/Lunch menu will be sent home every month. Please send all lunch or snack milk money in separate envelopes labeled with your child’s name, amount of money and what the money will be used for. You may also pay online using your child’s account number issued at the beginning of the year.
Read, Read, Read!:
Instill a lifelong love of reading in your child. Research shows that the single most important thing a parent can do to help their child succeed in school is read to them every day! Please record what you read on the Reading Log in your child’s backpack.
Newsletters:
Newsletters are sent home several times a month. Please read them to keep up to date on the happenings at school and in the classroom.
Volunteers:
Volunteers are always welcome. If you are interested in volunteering it is required that you get a background check. The main office can assist you with this process.
Birthdays:
A birthday is a very special time for young children. If you would like to send in a healthy snack, such as cut up fruit, granola bars, crackers, healthy muffins, etc. you are welcome to do so. Please contact me before the day of your child’s birthday.
Please write your child’s name on all items that come to school, such as outerwear, snacks, waterbottles, lunches etc.
WELCOME
