| Reading instruction in grade 2 will be guided by the CCSS in ELA. The focus will be on literature, informational text, foundational skills, speaking and listening and writing. A wide variety of literature and non-fiction text will be read during the year. Students will read independently, with partners and in small groups. They will respond to their reading in writing using textual evidence to support their thinking. The Jr. Great series will be used to promote critical thinking using the shared inquiry process. Students will read during Reader’s Workshop using texts at their independent reading levels. |
