May in the Art room

Happy May Artists!

First I have to thank all the friends who went to Arts Alive: S.T.E.A.M. in April - It was a great day filled so many activities and performances! If you came out to support us, thank you! If you couldn't make it this year, hopefully I'll see you next year!

This month, we will be focusing on many different artists and techniques!

Kindergarten will be working on finishing up their cylindrical flower vases, and beginning an aboriginal art lesson using our hands, and another very odd art supply!

First grade will be working on finishing up our cube jack-in-the-boxes, and beginning artworks featuring different lighthouses!

Second grade will be exploring Wassily Kandinsky and Hilla Rebay, creating abstract pieces inspired by their artwork based on emotions!

Third grade will be discovering the work of Georgia O'Keefe, and creating compositions by drawing from observation. I LOVE this third grade lesson, the students always create such detailed work!

Fourth grade will be experimenting with some printmaking - using foam board and a marker/water technique to create multiple prints!

May will be another busy, beautiful month in the Art room!
Keep on creating,
Mrs. Riley
