  • Welcome

Room 1-Math with Mrs. Evans   This year the fourth grade will be departmentalizing. Students will change classes for reading, writing, and math. Writing will be taught by the homeroom teacher.  The fourth grade team will be establishing and modeling the expectations for transitions between classes. By the end of the year, the transition to the middle school will be a piece of cake.   I am very excited to be teaching math this year! I am using the math workshop model of instruction. The math block will include a mini lesson, independent practice, small group instruction with the teacher, and hands on activities every day. Students will reflect daily on their learning and begin to take ownership of their progress.  You child will also have the opportunity to explore flexible seating options. I am optimistic this approach will support students in maintaining better focus and comfortably completing their assignments.  Students can expect a total of 45 minutes of homework each night Monday through Thursday and 15 minutes of nightly reading.  All nightly assignments will be written in the STAR binder. The behavioral expectations in fourth grade are the same as they were last year. We are a PBIS school and have building based expectations for behavior. We will review what it means to be safe, honest, assertive, responsible, and kind during the first 6 weeks of school. As we move forward this year, please continue to utilize this webpage for up to date reminders and useful links. Don't forget to sign up for Remind and Class Dojo notifications as…
