First Grade Rm 19
Instructor: Bonner, A.Welcome! If you have not already done so, please consider joining "Remind" to receive updates about our classroom and your student. If you need directions sent home again, please let me know!
GENERAL CLASS INFORMATION:
Our first day of school is Tuesday, September 6th! I am so excited to have your student in my class. We will have a wonderful year of learning and fun!
Visit the Responsive Classroom website to learn more about classroom routines, procedures, and logical consequences.
Each night your student will take home their S.T.A.R folder. Please review this folder nightly, and return the following day.
As our school policy states, it is expected that first grade students will read/be read to for fifteen minutes nightly, and have up to 15 minutes of additional homework.
Please provide a healthy snack and drink each day. Students are welcome to fill water bottles at the classroom sink.
Please discuss what it means to be a SHARK with your student!

Gobble, Gobble!
Today we read Turkey Trouble. Students are bringing home a letter from Tom the Turkey and a cardstock turkey. Please help your student to disguise Tom Turkey so he doesn't get eaten by Farmer Jake! Word on the farm is 11/10/15 is the day to return Tom the Turkey.

ORANGE YOU GLAD IT'S FALL
Friday, October 31st, all grade one students will be participating in a Harvest Celebration. Try to wear as much orange as you can!

Interactive Board!
Room 19 had an overhead projector installed with week with an interactive pen! Check out this photo of first graders taking a Brain Break by doing a "just dance" video on the board!

Report Cards
Report Cards will be going home on Friday, March 28th. Please sign and return only the envelope! Contact me if you would like to meet to discuss any questions or concerns you may have.

Read-A-Thon
The Read-A-Thon is underway! On Friday we will send home a sheet with the total minutes your child read during the school day. Remember to turn in your forms on Monday, March 31st!

Plant Project
We loved hearing the students present their plant projects! Thank you for supporting our home-school connection!

Analyzing Groundhog Day Data
Today the students created a chart to answer "Do you think the groundhog will see his shadow?". Then, we analyzed the data, showed it a new way on our own recording sheet, and shared our thinking with our classrooms. Let's hope spring comes soon!

Hip Hip Hooray! It's the 100th Day!
100th Day capes are due on Wednesday, February 6th. We will be wearing our capes as we celebrate day 100 on Friday, February 8th. Thank you for your support!

Thank you for working with your student to complete the mobile project. We had a wonderful time hearing about all of the things they are thankful for and seeing the photographs and designs.
