• Grade 4 Music DCS

    Instructor: Boisclair, B.

In Music we will create a safe environment for children to express themselves musically.  Performance in singing and instrumental playing is a cornerstone throughout every class.

Fourth Graders work on healthy singing habits including awareness of head vs. chest voice, note reading, recorder performance, and chord playing on  ukulele.

  • Musical Happenings!

Fourth graders have been singing “The Anvil Chorus” and have started working on the recorder part.  In small groups, 4th graders recently created their own arrangements of "In the Field Stood a Birch Tree" using voice, recorders, and xylophone.  It was awesome to see the student's creativity at work!  “O Fortuna” is another song from our “Link-Up: The Orchestra Rocks” books that we will start soon.…

1/4/16 Fourth graders will be working on two lower notes on the recorder “E” and “F-sharp” (F#).  We will be using these notes to play “In the Field Stood a Birch Tree” from our “Orchestra Rocks” book.  Fourth graders have also been working on creating their own short compositions for recorder.  We started with just the note B using quarter notes, eighth notes, and quarter rest.  We will continue to add more pitches throughout the process. Fourth graders will practice playing their compositions once…

  • What's Goin' On!

11/23/16 Fourth graders have started up recorder playing.  We are working on the Peanuts’ Tune “Linus and Lucy”.  Fourth graders are also beginning to write their own compositions for recorder.  We are starting with simple compositions using only a one pitch but we will be adding more quickly.  This is an awesome opportunity for students to think creatively by themselves.
