  • Resourcefulness- 8 Points of the Compass

Posted by Aleta Daley-Okolicsanyi on 3/31/2017 8:28:23 AM
This is your third meeting with the hypothetical former Soviet Union visitor.
He has asked you about "Resourcefulness". What is it?  Why is
resourcefulness important?  How can one apply resourcefulness
in daily life and the future? Be sure to give examples from
    literature and life?

Looking at the Compass, how would you
explain or show this same visitor what creativity is?

How do we use creativity in our everyday lives?

  • What is Empathy exactly?

Posted by Aleta Daley-Okolicsanyi on 3/21/2017 12:34:56 PM
Imagine that you meet a person who has never heard of empathy.  Sound
impossible?  Well, in the former Soviet Union, there wasn't any place
for what was considered sentimentality, responses like empathy.
This person speaks English and asks you what empathy is.  You
must explain by showing examples: (1) from literature (2) one from

    actual experience.

In explaining, you cannot just repeat or restate the definition or use
similar terms like kindness and compassion.  This person does not
have the context to understand those words either.  It's up to you to
illustrate the power and the meaning.

In this article by Professor Lin, what is the major difference between human drivers and
autonomous cars?  What advantage does a human driver have over a driverless car?

What legal principle allows automated/autonomous cars to be tested on public highways?

  • Reflections on "Desiderata"

Posted by Aleta Daley-Okolicsanyi on 1/31/2017 10:50:31 AM
After you read and re-read the text of
    "Desiderata", please take time to
reflect.  The poem written in 1927
is rich with wisdom and counsel.
Of the many points, choose three
and explain what the poet means.
