    Course Description

ENGLISH III: JUNIOR ENGLISH CP (132)

    1 credit

    Grade 11

This course involves a more mature study of core English skills. Major American authors and periods are examined in their historical context, allowing exploration of literary themes in the context of the American experience. Writing, research, and critical analysis skills previously introduced are reinforced and developed. Interactive listening and class discussion are an integral part of this course.

    Teacher Philosophy:
I truly believe I educate the whole student, preparing him or her for life, not just the workforce. With that in mind, I leave you with this quote by Thomas C. Foster, a literary professor and published author: “Literature, in other words, is a system, a worldwide shared experience across millennia. There are connections everywhere because everything is connected.” From How to Read Novels like a Professor
