    COURSE DESCRIPTION Prerequisite: Early Childhood Studies I & II and permission of the instructor.
    In this course students learn the RI Department of Education Early Learning and Development Standards and Teacher Assistant Training Program Standards. The students will study what children should be to be able to know and do before kindergarten.  Also, learn standards of professionalism, teaching and learning, behavior guidance, and safety and health.  They will participate as a teacher “assistant” in a district classroom environment. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will receive two certificates recognized by the Rhode Island Department of Education. This is a valuable course for individuals who plan to pursue a career working with children.
     *Student (or parent/guardian) must provide their own transportation to the district schools during school hours.

    Student must also submit a copy of his/her driver’s insurance card.
    Students are not allowed to drive other students in the class to the district schools.
