Career Exploration is the internship component of a two course offering which also includes a classroom experience, Career Seminar. These courses run back-to-back in order to give the students time to attend the internship during the school day and they are designed to give the students a comprehensive view of the world of work including a hands-on experience in the field of their choice. The internship experience will give the students experience working in their chosen field along with first hand knowledge of what the career entails and how to prepare for a career in that particular field. Students will be paired with a workplace mentor and each student will develop an internship plan, set goals to obtain during the internship and complete a final reflection for each placement.
The second semester has begun and internships are in full swing. Some students have elected to change their placements for the second semester and some have chosen to stay put with their original internship placement. Either way they are able to observe and learn outside of the school building in order to get a clearer picture of the various career fields they are interested in. As for Career Seminar, our in school time, the students are creating cover letters for available jobs in the area they are interested in pursuing after graduation and once those are completed we will embark on our Mock Interviews. Welcome back to your Senior Year! I am very excited to get going with our Career Seminar and Career Exploration classes and hope you are too. We will begin with an overview of the 16 Career Clusters and then move into some self-exploration and career exploration so be ready to jump right in!
