  • Daily Attendance

    "The faculty and staff of the Westerly High School expect every student to be present the entire school day for as many of the 182 days as possible."  WHS Student Expectation Handbook p. 21  However, we do realize that students do become ill.  If you know that your child is sick and will not be reporting to school, please call 315-1597 by 9am, or an automated phone call will go home by 10:15am.  An absence is only excused by a note from a physician or school nurse, or a court document.  Please send your child in with said documents upon their return to school. It is important to note that per page 22 in the WHS Student Expectation Handbook, if students exceed 20 unexcused absences in a year-long class, and 10 unexcused absences for a semester class, the student will lose credit in that class and will receive a grade of an "X". …

  • Student Tardiness To School

    Per the WHS Student Handbook:  In regards to being late to school: "Legitimate excuses such as doctors' appointments and court appointments are acceptable.  Excuses such as oversleeping or car trouble are not considered legitimate.  The first three offenses of late to school will result in a verbal warning.  All subsequent tardies will result in a one hour office detention."  No longer will notes from a parent/guardian excuse a tardy to…
