Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year! I am so excited to be a part of your child's education and to have the privilege of working with a new group of students and their families this year. As we talk about the SHARK trait of Safety in class, I teach the students that being safe means keeping our bodies and our feelings happy and healthy. I thought it may help to share some ways to help ensure the safety and health of your little learner in first grade: Sleep, sleep, sleep! Your child works hard all day and an adequate night's rest is imperative to keep your child active and healthy at school. Healthy Food Choices! The first six weeks of school are critical weeks at any grade level. During this period, teachers are getting to know and understand their students, while working to establish a safe and welcoming classroom environment. Taking the time to clearly define expectations and establish routines early on leads to greater productivity and invested learners in future weeks. Fun Facts About Me:
- I live in Westerly with my husband and children.
- I have three sons ages 8, 6, and 3.
- I have taught preschool, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and 5th grade....but 1st grade is my favorite!
- Some of my favorites things are: the color blue, owls, guacamole, and cozying with my boys!
- My two main rules in life are: be kind and try your best. If you do these two things, you will always succeed!
